About Dr. Lourens

 

Qualified with MBChB and MMED orthopedics from the University of Stellenbosch and FCS orthopedics from the South African College of Medicine.

 

Completed a post-graduate fellowship at the University of Pretoria in upper limb surgery.

 

Full member of the South African Orthopedic Association, the South African Shoulder and Elbow Society and the South African Society for Hand Surgery.

 

Dr. Lourens worked as the principal specialist and department head in the department of orthopedic at Paarl provincial hospital before entering full-time private practice at Paarl Mediclinic and Cure clinic day hospital in Paarl.

 

He has over 20 years experience in the treatment of orthopedic disorders of the shoulder, elbow and hand.

EXPERIENCE

 

Dr. Lourens has a special interest in wrist arthroscopic procedures and has done both local and international training courses to increase his skills and knowledge.

 

He was awarded the Accumed bursary to travel to France to attend the European wrist arthroscopy society training under the guidance of Professor Mouthelin in Paris.

 

Dr. Lourens also has a weekly combined hand clinic with a very dedicated and experience hand therapist Annerie Beukes where his hand patients are treated and undergo rehab.
